Los Angeles Lakers star Anthony Davis has a number of tattoos on his body. Not all of them are easy to spot because Davis is usually draped in an array of athletic gear. Thankfully, Davis is an NBA star and has tons of photos that reveal some of his permanent ink. Since Davis really hasn’t talked much or showed off his tattoos, this list may be incomplete.
Perhaps the Lakers star has other tattoos hidden that the public hasn’t even had a glimpse of. Be as it may, here’s every known tattoo of Anthony Davis.
Grandfather Portrait
Since Davis always dons a compression shirt, we only get to half of the tattoo portrait of his late grandfather, Lamont Eberhardt. Davis’ grandfather played a significant role in his life. In an interview in 2015, Davis recalled how they would talk about basketball all day. And their conversations would revolve around the great Kobe Bryant, whom Eberhardt is a die-hard fan of. Above and below the portrait are the words “REST UP Champ.” It’s another way of saying rest in peace. But also, the two were fond of calling each other “Champ.”
“Chicago”
Davis was born in Chicago, Illinois. So it was a no-brainer that he’ll get a permanent ink to signify where he came from. NBA players, or anyone for that matter, will always have an affinity for his/her hometown. So much so that whenever a big name like Davis becomes a free agent, analysts quickly recall the player’s hometown because there’s a good chance that he’ll go back home. “Chicago” located on Davis’ right bicep and below it is a “1993” inscription that signifies his year of birth.
Baby Girl
Davis seems to have a liking for portrait tattoos. On the inner side of his left forearm is a portrait of a baby girl with two flowers on his head. This baby girl is Nala, Davis’ daughter with Brittney Davis.
“NALA”
Meanwhile, on the outer side of his right forearm, are the letters “N,” “A,” “L,” “A.” The tattoo moves upwards from his wrist to Davis’ elbow. The N has a little crown sitting on top of it. That makes it a total of two tattoos of his daughter. Little is known about the seven-time All-Star’s personal life. But it’s safe to say that Davis loves her baby girl so much.
Stars and Doves
The “NALA” tattoo is surrounded by several stars and doves.
Cross
On his right forearm, this time on the inner side is a big cross. Like the “NALA” tat, it is also surrounded by stars and doves.
“RIP”
Right above the cross tat is “RIP.” This could signify that the tattoo is dedicated to Davis’ departed loved one.
“AD”
The final tattoo on his right arm is his initials and nickname, “AD.” Located on his right wrist, one might assume that the tattoo is dedicated to himself. However, Davis might actually be paying homage to the Anthony Davis Sr. — his father and the original AD.
Kobe
Days after the passing of the great Kobe Bryant, Davis and LeBron James got dedication tattoos on their thighs. James got a coiled snake design with “Mamba 4 Life” written right below. For his part, Davis’ tattoo features Bryant’s Black Mamba logo being coiled around by an actual black mamba snake.
