And the Chicago Bulls icon’s basketball shoes have a chance to be worth $10 million when it’s all set and done.
Michael Jordan’s collection of iconic shoes are set to be auctioned off next month
The set features an Air Jordan sneaker which Jordan wore during each of the clinching games of his six NBA Finals victories
The Dynasty Collection is the name of Jordan’s shoe line.
An Air Jordan sneaker from each of Jordan’s six NBA Finals series championship games is included in the set.
The 1991 title Air Jordan VI, Air Jordan VII (1992), Air Jordan VIII (1993), Air Jordan XI (1996), Air Jordan XII (1997), and Air Jordan XIV (1998) are the pieces that make up this set.
In an announcement to the Daily Mail, Brahm Wachter, chairman of Modern Collectables, claimed that the collection has been termed the “Mona Lisa of sports memorabilia.”
Jordan autographed and gave his sneakers to Tim Hallam, the Bulls’ director of public relations, after the team’s triumph in the 1991 NBA Finals.
When Jordan won his following five championships, he would carry out the same drill.
In each of his six title victories, he would receive Finals MVP.
The most valuable collection of sneakers to ever hit the market is expected to be Jordan’s collection of shoes worn after winning each title.
His collaboration with Nike played a pivotal role in transforming both his basketball legacy and the Jordan Brand.
As a result, Jordan became the first NBA player to have a $1 billion net worth.
Regarding the sale, there are also pictures of Jordan commemorating every title he’s won, save for 1991.
The GOAT’s sneakers will be put up for sale by Sotheby’s.
The collection would only be offered for purchase through a private sale, it was announced last year.
However, the auction house decided to take bids in order to determine the set’s actual value after it was displayed to the public during a global tour.
Jordan’s sneakers are expected to be valued between $7 million and $10 million, and the auction will begin on February 2.
