With top player Giannis Antetokounmpo sidelined by a left leg ιnjury on Tuesday night, head coach Doc Rivers’ degree of anxiety is “high.” The Bucks are holding their breath.

Antetokounmpo inbounded the ball to Damian Lillard in the third quarter of the Bucks’ 104-91 victory over the Celtics in Milwaukee. About five feet later, he practically immediately took to the floor.

As he lowered himself to the ground, Antetokounmpo grasped the region around his high ankle or leg.

He remained on the ground for several moments after the Bucks called a timeout, and he was eventually helped off the floor by his teammates and brought right to the locker room.

Due to a left calf ιnjury, Antetokounmpo was forced to sit out the remainder of the match. 

After the game, Rivers told reporters that Antetokounmpo would get an MRI on his calf and undergo tests on his Achilles tendon due to his concerns about the health of the Bucks star.

He was already battling some health concerns when he arrived for the game on Tuesday.

The day before his status was changed from questionable to likely due to left hamstring tendinopathy, the two-time NBA MVP was labeled as such. 

Prior to this, Antetokounmpo missed three games due to a left hamstring ιnjury that began to flare up in the middle of March.

When speaking about the calf ιnjury on Tuesday, Brook Lopez remarked, “It is unfortunate again, but hoping for the best.” All we can do is control what we can. Giannis is obviously going to take whatever available action, no matter what the circumstances. I have no idea what it is yet.

“We just need to keep showing up, playing together, being ourselves, game by game.””
