Basketball player Giannis Antetokounmpo announced his engagement to longtime girlfriend Mariah Riddlesprigger. 

Monday during a press appearance to promote their charity work with Milwaukee’s Diaper Mission, the 28-year-old athlete called Riddlesprigger, 30, his fiancée, hinting to their engagement.

He said, “Soon [I’m going] to be married to this beautiful woman next to me.”

Along with her huge diamond ring on her left finger, Riddlesprigger momentarily smiled as her soon-to-be-husband and father of her two children spoke to the press.

Middlesprigger confirmed the engagement to PEOPLE, but the proposal date is unknown.

The wonderful news follows their May announcement that they are expecting their third child. “Our dreams becoming reality,” they said on Instagram that month.

The gender of their third kid, who will join Liam Charles, 3, and Maverick Shai, 2, was not disclosed. At the press conference this week, Antetokounmpo disclosed they’re having a daughter. 

What about the new addition? “I know my two boys are gonna be extremely excited to meet their little sister, and protect her and spend time with her and play with her, and you know, grow up with her,” he and Riddlesprigger stated. When questioned, Riddlesprigger remarked, “I’m feeling very pregnant,” adding, “hopefully the baby comes very soon.” 

I’m thrilled. Our third. The other two lads are delighted too. We’ll see,” she said.

Riddlesprigger praised Antetokounmpo’s attentiveness with his third pregnancy. “He’s done a great job,” she remarked before the NBA player likened himself to a butler. 

“That’s what I am,” he quipped about helping Riddlesprigger. “I do that.” 

Again, the couple has collaborated with Milwaukee Diaper Mission to help the needy.  Riddlesprigger and Antetokounmpo announced a diaper drive and fundraising for the charity in September 2021 to celebrate the birth of their second baby. The week-long event raised $38,000 and 20,000 diapers.

“Knowing that other moms have to choose between food and diapers and other things, I just can’t imagine,” Riddlesprigger said Monday. Not being in that circumstance is a blessing. I want to assist as many parents and families as possible.”
