Since the All-Star Game was not being treated as a competitive game whatsoever, Nikola Jokic and Luka Doncic made the decision to take advantage of the situation for some lighthearted humor.
Before the game on Sunday night at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, Jokic was seen dunking on teammate Steph Curry of the Western Conference, who had Jokic’s back.
As it turned out, the Nuggets center had an accomplice.
“Were you present when that occurred?” Jokic exclaimed. “I need (video). I instructed Luka to shift Steph a little nearer to the hoop.
Jokic and Doncic, who are close friends from Slovenia and Serbia, respectively, spent much of their team’s 211-186 defeat teasing one other. They went coast to coast on a single possession, passing back and forth without allowing the ball to Һit the floor.
Luka is awful, Jokic said. “He’s a terrible player.”
Jokic’s humor and gregarious demeanor with his teammates were highlights of his sixth All-Star Game. For the two-time MVP in a league dominated by English-speaking players, that hasn’t always been the case.
Every time Jokic left the game, he gave a hearty high-five to every Western Conference player on the bench. After making a corner 3-pointer in front of East coach Doc Rivers’ bench, he also turned to give Rivers a high five. He made the audience chuckle as he pretended to dunk during a transition and instead laid it up. Defenders emptied the court in the last two minutes so he could try dunks. He flexed at Karl Anthony-Towns after he hammered one home with his right hand.
Jokic described the experience as, “Actually yes, I feel much more comfortable.” “It seems like I know everyone,” It’s interesting to observe how various individuals think and to just converse with them about basketball or anything else without having to speak about this game. For me, it’s always beneficial to be here.
Regarding the Curry poster, Jokic applauded in front of the press after seeing the footage.
The NBA Finals MVP jokingly said, “I think he was really mаd at me, and he will not sleep today because of that.”
