The 2024 NBA All-Star game has finally ended, displaying the developing brilliance of young players who gave spectators a ton of incredible moments. Tyrese Haliburton and Damian Lillard wowed with a flurry of three-pointers from all over the court, while Karl-Anthony Towns put on a slam clinic, likely showcasing his case to compete in the dunk competition next year. But while the other players concentrated on connecting on their shots, Luka Doncic and Nikola Jokic stood out because it seemed like they were just having fun.
With over thirty seconds left before halftime, Doncic took the inbound ball from the baseline and made a daring long-range jumper from beyond half-court. Interestingly, he called it a calculated play that gave his side two chances to score before the bell. Doncic’s action seems to be straight out of Chris Paul’s playbook. In a similar vein, Jokic couldn’t control his shоck while talking about Luka Doncic’s shot choice, saying, “I couldn’t believe it.”
Although Luka’s strategy is a wonderful example of his basketball acumen, it was completely against the West’s advantage. Luka managed to Һit the top of the backboard with his unusual shot, just missing an out-of-bounds scenario. Moreover, despite getting the defender to bite on his pump fake, Stephen Curry missed three points as he brought the ball down for the buzzer. The last half-minute of the game was quite fast-paced, so it’s possible that the West had two good chances to take a shot.
In the course of the game, Luka played 23 minutes and recorded 7/7/7. Jokic, on the other hand, contributed 13 points, 9 assists, and 4 rebounds in the same amount of time while shooting 6-8 from the field.
