Bam Adebayo named Eastern Conference reserve as lone Heat representative in NBA All-Star Game

Tonight, the NBA revealed that Bam Adebayo has been chosen for the 2024 NBA All-Star Team. This is his third pick in his career. In 18 of the last 20 years, Miami has had at least one All-Star. The 73rd NBA All-Star Game will happen in Indianapolis, IN, on Sunday, February 18.

Adebayo was named the NBA Eastern Conference Player of the Week on January 14. He has started all 38 games this season and averaged 20.6 points, 10.6 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 1.03 blocks, 1.00 steals, and 34.8 minutes per game. He also shoots 50.1% from the field and 78.1 % from the free throw line. On January 24 against Memphis, Adebayo had a double-double with 15 points, 15 rebounds, six assists, and a career-high six blocks. He was the first player in the team’s history to get at least those two stats in a single game. Last night’s double-double was his 174th as a HEAT player, which is the fourth-most in team history. He gave out his 100th assist of the season on January 8 against Houston. This is his seventh straight year with at least 100 assists, which ties him for the second-most 100-assist seasons in Heat history. From January 5 to January 14, he had five straight 20-point, 10-rebound games, tying the second-longest streak in team history. He also set the record earlier in the season, from November 6 to November 14, becoming the only player in franchise history to have two streaks of at least five games. On November 16, Adebayo had a 22-point, 19-rebound, 10-assist triple-double against the Los Angeles Lakers. It was only the third triple-double with at least 15 rebounds in team history, and it was also his sixth career triple-double, passing Dwyane Wade for third-most in Heat history.
