Bovada says that the Dallas Mavericks are one of the top five teams that could trade for Jimmy Butler from the Miami Heat before the NBA trade deadline.
There have been rumors that the Miami Heat might trade star guard/forward Jimmy Butler, but on Tuesday, ESPN’s Kendrick Perkins said that a trade should happen. This is what led Las Vegas to post trade odds for the five-time All-NBA and All-Defensive player.
Bet365 says that the Dallas Mavericks have +600 chances of getting Butler in a trade, which is the fifth-best odds. The odds are best for the New York Knicks (+210), then the Philadelphia 76ers (+225), the Sacramento Kings (+325), and finally the Brooklyn Nets (+475).
Butler probably won’t switch teams any time soon, but if he does and Miami is ready to deal with Dallas, the tough 13-year veteran would be a great match for Luka Doncic, who is having an MVP-caliber season with 34.7 points, 8.6 rebounds, and 9.6 assists per game.
Butler is a threаt on defense, and he can also do a lot of different things on offense. He’s averaged 21.1 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 4.3 assists in 32 games for Miami this season, while shooting 49.1 percent from the field and 42.6 percent from three-point range. Last season, he took the eighth-seeded Heat all the way to the NBA Finals, where Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets beаt them. This shows how important he is to a team.
If Butler played with Doncic and maybe Kyrie Irving as well in Dallas, they would have more power to work with. The Mavs can easily get Butler in exchange for Irving, as we wrote earlier on DallasBasketball.com. However, there are other ways that a deal could be made that would be more cost-effective.
It’s possible for Dallas to offer Tim Hardaway Jr., Grant Williams, Mаxi Kleber, and a first-round pick in 2027. That probably isn’t enough to close a deal for a guy like Butler, even though he’s 34 years old. That’s probably why the Mavs aren’t higher on the list of betting odds here.
