On Monday night, the Denver Nuggets played the Milwaukee Bucks. It was a matchup of two of the best teams in the NBA. Nikola Jokic, who was named Finals MVP last year, scored 25 points, grabbed 16 boards, dished out 12 assists, stole 3 balls, and blocked 2 shots to help Denver win.
Jokic became just the fourth player in NBA history to post this line or better in a game, following Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Larry Bird, and Jimmy Butler, per Basketball Reference’s StatHead. This was not the only history Jokic made with this performance, as his 85th career 20-point triple-double tied Magic Johnson for the 5th most such games in NBA history, also per StatHead.
This is nothing new for Jokic; he seems to be putting on great shows every night. His numbers for the season are 26.3 points per game, 12.1 rebounds per game, and 9.0 assists per game. Jokic didn’t shoot as well from the field as he usually does, but Milwaukee has a great defense in the middle, and Jokic did enough to get his own points and help his teammates score as well.
The Nuggets pulled off a good win. They are now trying to catch the OKC Thunder and Minnesota Timberwolves in the standings while also trying to stay ahead of the LA Clippers. That’s possible with nights like this one from Jokic.
