The casting call for Disney’s upcoming film “Greek Freak,” which centers on the lives of Giannis and his brother Thanasis Antetokounmpo, has started.
On the casting page, it said, “This story recounts their rise, with the help of their family, from undocumented Nigerian immigrants, living in Greece to basketball superstars in America.”
As of right now, it is unknown whether Alex and Kostas, the other two Antetokoumpo siblings, will also be in the movie. While Giannis has already established himself as one of the best NBA players in recent memory, the other three brothers are still on the rise and on their way to become NBA superstars.
Giannis recently posted an interview from 2013 on Instagram, outlining the future professional aspirations of the Greek international.
In the video, when the reporter from “The Players Tribune” asks Giannis about his professional aspirations, the modest Greek-Nigerian responds, “To be an NBA player.”
‘The Greek Freak’ is now the NBA MVP for the current seven-year period. Less than five years after the interview was recorded, in the 2016–17 campaign, Giannis made NBA history by becoming the first player to complete a regular season among the top 20 in each of the five categories: total points, rebounds, assists, steals, and blocks.
According to the casting page, two roles of Giannis need to be filled by young performers. The first one, who will portray Giannis in his early adolescence, is a 13–15 year old. In the second, an older Giannis portrays the ascent to fаme of The Greek Freaks.
