The Miami Heat’s night ended in disappointment as they were defeated 143-110 by the Boston Celtics.
Here are five key conclusions to consider:
1. Terry Rozier had a difficult game against his old squad, losing handily.
The 29-year-old guard fell short of the expectations of the fan support in only his second game wearing a Heat jersey. Using three of ten shots, he concluded the game with seven points and three assists. Supporters should exercise patience as Rozier has to spend the next several weeks getting used to Miami’s playing philosophy.
2. Despite their strong efforts, the Heat’s Big Three were insufficient.
Even though Tyler Herro, Bam Adebayo, and Jimmy Butler scored 55 points each, they were outscored. Adebayo had five rebounds and two assists, while Herro contributed six assists to his stat sheet. With two made three-pointers and a 7 of 11 shooting performance, Butler had an outstanding game.
3. Miami’s defense is starting to show its shortcomings.
There are issues with limiting inside looks, stopping three-pointers, and on the perimeter. Boston shot over 50% from outside the arc and 63.7 percent overall as a team. In addition, all except one of the Celtics’ free throws were made. A large portion of the Heat’s problems are caused by their small stature on the court.
4. The stars of Boston were unmissable.
The starting group for the Celtics handled business with ease. Leading scorer Jayson Tatum finished with 26 points, 8 rebounds, and 46.7 percent of the shot. Derrick White and Jrue Holiday, the guards, combined for 32 points on 13 of 20 shots. Big man Kristaps Porzingis ended with 19 points in 20 minutes of play, while Jaylen Brown scored 18 points on 50% shooting from outside the arc.5. Getting frustrated is starting since the games ahead are difficult.
A play that happened in the second half is being used by many supporters as a metaphor for the Heat’s frustrations. On the аttаck, Butler seemed irritated that Duncan Robinson did not pass the ball to him. The star forward’s mindset makes sense given that Miami has lost five straight games. On Saturday, the Heat play the New York Knicks (28-17), and on Monday night, they play the Phoenix Suns (26-18).
