The Los Angeles Lakers player seems to have unintentionally leaked certain ideas that his new endeavor could lead to, emulating Tom Brady’s current promotional push.
LeBron James has teased an exciting new partnership with Fantics and Topps, sending NBA fans wild
The NBA star seemingly revealed some of his upcoming projects in his announcement, suggesting the new venture could emulate Tom Brady’s recent promo campaign
James, 39, posted a photo of himself holding a paper sheet with the Fanatics emblem in the header on social media.
He said, “Greatness awaits,” as the post’s caption.
It didn’t take long for fans to realize that part of the sheet could be read through the paper thanks to the backlight.
It included a list of what seemed like future release titles, followed by the initial name of the four-time NBA champion and a colon.
We All Start Somewhere, First Court, First Touchdown, and First Game Winner were among the entries.
It’s interesting to note that James included Fanatics and Topps, a trading card company that Michael Rubin’s massive sportswear company purchased in 2022, in his Instagram post.
It happens less than a month after Topps and Brady collaborated to create an innovative marketing campaign that was motivated by the NFL legend’s baseball career in high school.
The ad featured numerous allusions to Brady’s actual NFL accomplishments while imagining a future in which he prefers baseball to football.
The card featured the retiring quarterback wearing a Montreal Expos jersey—the team that drafted the future seven-time Super Bowl champion in the 18th round of the 1995 MLB Draft—and advertised a special edition of the card.
James participated in two sports during high school, just like Brady.
The 6-foot-9 Lakers forward became the next great thing in basketball while playing wide receiver for the St. Vincent-St. Mary football team.
After all these years, he is a 19-time All-Star who is still playing at the top level in Year 21. In the 2023–24 NBA season, he averaged 25.2 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 7.4 assists.
His Lakers, who went 4-10 after winning the first-ever In-Season Tournament in early December, have been in a terrible rut for the past month.
On Sunday, though, Los Angeles made a statement by defeating the scorching LA Clippers 106-103.
