January 5: In early voting for the 2024 NBA All-Star Game, Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks has the most votes in the Eastern Conference. LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers has the most votes in the Western Conference.
James has been named an NBA All-Star 19 times, while Antetokounmpo has been named seven times.
Antetokounmpo and James both got points because they are good frontcourt players. In the West, Luka Doncic of the Dallas Mavericks and Tyrese Haliburton of the Indiana Pacers got the most votes for guard. He could play in the All-Star Game next month in front of his home crowd.
The fan vote will only make up half of the information used to choose players for the Eastern and Western Conferences. Another 25 percent will come from current players, and the last 25 percent will come from a group of media.
It’s “3-for-1 Day” in the NBA on Friday, so every single fan vote will count as three votes. On January 11, the next list of fan votes will be made public.
James, Kevin Durant of the Phoenix Suns, and Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets are in first place in the Western Conference for forwards. Doncic and Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors are in first place for guards.
In the Eastern Conference, Antetokounmpo, Joel Embiid of the Philadelphia 76ers, and Jayson Tatum of the Boston Celtics are the best in the front court. Haliburton and Damian Lillard of the Milwaukee Bucks are the best at guard.
The NBA All-Star Game for 2024 is set for February 18, 2024, in Indianapolis.
