Recently, Bryce James, the junior son of NBA player LeBron James, enthralled the audience with his high school basketball skills at the USC Galen Center. In the first quarter of the Chosen1 Invitational versus Coronado (Las Vegas), Bryce replaced Sierra Canyon (Chatsworth, California) in front of his father and family at the court.
Five months prior, Bronny, Bryce’s older brother, had returned to playing basketball on the same court after suffering a myocardial infarction. Bronny was traveling with his team on Sunday afternoon, so he was unable to see his brother play after making his USC debut versus Auburn.
With a 59-point victory, the Sierra Canyon team recently extended their reign of terror. They got off to an early lead and won 83–55 on Saturday night against Coronado. In twenty-one minutes of play, 6-4 shooting guard Bryce James scored eight points (two from beyond the arc), disheveled three assists, and had a 45% field goal percentage.
The Sierra Canyon lead at halftime, 46–18, turned out to be the game-changer. Junior wing player Bryce Cofield led the squad in scoring with 21 points, 8 rebounds, and 7 assists. Sierra Canyon’s record has increased to 10-1 thanks to their amazing performance. Burroughs High School will be their next opponent in the Santa Barbara Tournament.
Like his brother Bronny, Bryce James has been keeping a quiet profile during the recruiting process. He has paid unofficial visits to USC and Ohio State in the past. In particular, his skill at jump shooting and his precise touch around the basket are drawing attention from recruiters and colleges.
LeBron James said that Bryce James has excellent pocket distribution talents
LeBron James has shown his admiration and encouragement for his kid throughout his basketball career. The Los Angeles Lakers player recently praised his younger son Bryce’s basketball skills on Instagram, highlighting a particularly outstanding pocket pass.
“Ultimate pocket pass!” wrote senior James. You’re doing well! A permission for pocket ELITE! Even professionals have trouble pulling off that move. In addition to the highly regarded pocket pass, Bryce’s performance in Sierra Canyon’s recent 59-point victory included many other notable plays, for which he was recognized.
Just a junior, Bryce’s steady progress as a player has attracted interest from USC in addition to offers from Ohio State and Duquesne. Due to his exceptional skills, especially in the areas of passing and shooting, 247Sports currently rates Bryce as a three-star talent.
This isn’t just a case of proud parents supporting their child; it’s the endorsement of an experienced expert, and LeBron James is expressing exactly that. As Bryce plays basketball for his high school team, his already exceptional skill set will grow even more, opening the door for a career in professional basketball.
