This past weekend, James Harden and the general manager of adidas Basketball revealed brand-new facilities at Audubon Middle School, which is where Harden went to junior high.
The “Imma Be a Star” logo and colors should look very familiar to anyone who reads this site or likes James Harden. To begin with, what does it meаn? As a student in high school in Los Angeles, James signed a black piece of paper with a gold paint pen and wrote, “Keep this paper—I’mа be a *.”
There was a lot of rιsk and scope in the note, but it turned out to be very true. As for the shoes, it all began when the Harden Vol. 1 “Imma Be a Star” came out last year. To match the original note, adidas gave James and us a black top with gold accents.
Harden and the adidas team went back to his old haunts in Los Angeles, to Audobon Middle School, where Harden grew up, to make something new for the next generation. Harden showed off the remodeled outdoor courts in the Harden LS 2 Buckle, his newest lifestyle shoe. He arrived on a firetruck that was painted in the IBAS makeup. There are 12 courts with fresh lines, backboards, and ball racks. The courts look great and are ready for play. The gym is also getting a new look thanks to adidas, just in time for the start of the school year.
Rick Ross and Famous Dex played music, food was served, and shoes were given away and signed for the people. Monja Willis, Harden’s mom, also seemed to talk about her son and, of course, that note.
For the kids at Audobon Middle School, James wins hands down. We’re still waiting to see if Harden takes home the NBA MVP award this year.
