On Thursday, Nikola Jokic became the first NBA player with at least 10 triple-doubles in seven straight seasons as the Denver Nuggets won their third straight game 124-101 over the Brooklyn Nets.
Jokic recorded his 115th regular-season triple-double with 26 points, 15 rebounds, and 10 assists. Denver also gained Jamal Murray, who missed Tuesday’s game at Chicago with ankle soreness. For the defending champion Nuggets, he scored 16 and Peyton Watson 18.
Dennis Smith Jr., who was recovering from an upper-back ιnjury, missed the Nets’ back-to-back road games. Spencer Dinwiddie led with 17 points and Cam Thomas 13.
Up 13 at halftime, the Nuggets scored 38 points in the third quarter, with Jokic scoring a layup in the final seconds. A Christian Braun breakaway dunk made it 103-78 midway through the fourth.
Denver’s reserves played most of the ending and maintained a double-digit advantage.
Murray scored 14 points in the first half as the Nuggets led 52-39, their fewest points all season.
