Nuggets coach Michael Malone, like NBA fans, was confused by Nikola Jokić’s expulsion from Tuesday’s game against the Bulls.
In the second quarter of Denver’s 114-106 win over Chicago, Jokić was dismissed for shouting with an official regarding a no-call after missing a shot at the rim. The audience booed and the Bulls broadcasters were incredulous when the official dismissed him for a technical foul.
Jokić reportedly told the official, “Motherf-er, call the f-ing foul,” according to various reports.
Malone downplayed Jokić’s NSFW remark in a postgame press conference.
“When I heard what [Jokić] said, I answered, ‘I don’t understand the problem because that was a term of endearment when I grew up.’”
After Tuesday’s win, Nuggets guard Aaron Gordon joked about Jokic’s dismissal, saying, “We want Jokić to get ejected as quickly as possible.” Try to make it happen from there.”
Before his dismissal, Jokić had four points, nine rebounds, and six assists. The Nuggets meet the Nets on Thursday with the Serbian big man back.
