The world’s best-looking and most innovative superyachts of 2023 honoured in prestigious awards

A distinguished awards ceremony honored the world’s most beautiful sailing vessels and superyachts.

The Boat International Design & creativity Awards, held on Sunday in Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy, presented 19 awards to the yachts that received marks for creativity in addition to aesthetics and technical excellence.

Best Exterior Design 60 Metres and Over, Best Interior for a Motor Yacht Design, Best Deck Design and Best Lifestyle Feature Design: Elandess

With four awards, Elandess was the main winner at the Boat International Design & Innovation Awards.

It received accolades not just for its outside design but also for its interior, deck, and layout design. Its best design element is a semi-submerged lounge known as the Neptune Lounge that has floor to ceiling windows.

Elandess features a multi-level sun deck with a pool, a family cabin area, a gym, and a diverse collection of unique furnishings and artwork throughout the interior design scheme.

Best Naval Architecture, Sailing Yachts: Black Pearl 

Most of the details about the Black Pearl yacht still remain under wraps but its 'sleek and contemporary' design meant it won the award for best naval architecture for a sailing yacht

The Black Pearl yacht earned the prize for outstanding naval architecture for a sailing yacht despite having a “sleek and contemporary” design that keeps most of its elements hidden.

Black Pearl took home the prize for finest naval architecture for a sailing yacht, despite the fact that the majority of its specifications are still unknown.

The yacht’s profile was commended by the judges as being “sleek and contemporary.”

They particularly appreciated the vessel’s sophisticated power management systems and diesel-electric propulsion system, which enable it to satisfy the owner’s requirement for a “zero-impact” boat.

Best Interior Design, Sailing Yachts: Seatius 

The below deck lounge area on the Seatius, which was named as having the best interior design on a sailing yacht

Seatius scooped the prize for best interior on a sailing yacht after it gained the judges attention for its contemporary decor using elegant fabrics.

It has a predominantly two-tone, light and dark colour scheme with crisp and clean lines, without appearing too minimalist.

The judges were also impressed with how the designers took a comparatively small space and made the boat feel much larger than its 31 metres (101 feet), as there is ample space for guests in the three en-suite cabins.

Best Naval Architecture, Semi-Displacement or Planing Motor Yachts: Azimut Grande 32 Metri 

The Azimut Grande 32 Metri yacht, which is made entirely from carbon fibre. It scooped the prize for best naval architecture for a semi-displacement or planing motor yacht

Winning the award for best naval architecture for a semi-displacement or a planing motor yacht is the Azimut Grande.

The judges praised the team behind the vessel, saying it had evidently spent time and investment to keep the weight of the boat down without having to compromise on the features on board.

The superstructure of the Azimut Grande is made largely from carbon fibre and the hull is optimised for speed and comfort.

Best Naval Architecture, Displacement Motor Yachts: White Rabbit

The White Rabbit scooped the award for best naval architecture for a displacement motor yacht. It is the biggest trimaran in the world

The White Rabbit vessel scooped the award for the best naval architecture for a displacement motor yacht.

It measures 84 metres (275ft) and is the biggest trimaran in the world.

The innovative design of the boat saw it receive top marks from the panel of experts for its economical performance.

Best Interior Design, Motor Yachts 300GT to 499GT: El Leon

El Leon was recognised for its customised layout and stunning decor by winning the best interior design on a motor yacht award.

The vessel is fully equipped with a fitness studio, an office with a library and a statement staircase, which the judges admired.

It also has floor-to-ceiling windows and the boat can cater for up to 10 guests and nine crew, with five guest cabins and crew cabins.

The Game Changer Award: Solo 

The game changer award went to Solo, pictured, which has frameless curved structural glass bulwarks, walls and pool because the owner wanted unobstructed views across the whole vessel

The Black Pearl yacht, with its “sleek and contemporary” design that conceals most of its components, took home the award for excellent naval architecture for a sailing yacht.

Even though much of Black Pearl’s specs are still unknown, it won the award for best naval architecture for a sailing boat.

The judges praised the yacht’s profile, calling it “sleek and contemporary.”

The advanced power management systems and diesel-electric propulsion system of the yacht were especially welcomed by them, since they allow it to meet the owner’s need for a “zero-impact” boat.

Young Designer of the Year: Yihharn Liu’s Manta

The requirements for entrants in this category were to style and create the general arrangement plans for a modern, elegantly beautiful 80-metre (262ft) motor sailer yacht.

There were 42 submissions but Yihharn Liu took the award for her innovation and creativity in the development of a design called Manta.

The boat’s appearance and sleek lines have been influenced by the shape and movement of a stingray.
