Miami Heat star Josh Richardson was sidelined with a serious injury in a preseason game following a bitter 104-107 loss to the Nets

The Miami Heat did not make most of their trade targets this offseason. Damian Lillard’s first choice was the Milwaukee Bucks, even though they weren’t his final destination. They still wanted Jrue Holiday even after he was traded to the Boston Celtics.

They had essentially the same nucleus that got them to the NBA Finals the year before, but they lost two key players in free agency, Max Strus and Gabe Vincent. Josh Richardson and other potentially significant players were added by the Heat during their own free agency. But Josh Richardson left the Heat’s preseason game against the Brooklyn Nets early on Wednesday because of a foot injury, according to Ira Winderman of The Miami Heat Sun-Sentinel.

Josh Richardson, who concluded the previous season with the New Orleans Pelicans, inked a free agent contract with the Heat. Richardson was moved to the Pelicans during the NBA trade deadline, having started the 2022–23 season with the San Antonio Spurs.
