Michael Jordan, who is featured in brilliant Netflix documentary ‘The Last Dance’, has been trying to sell his Chicago mansion for EIGHT years, but just can’t find anyone who wants to buy it.
The Chicago Bulls legend first listed the MJ-branded property on the market for around £24million.
The 58-year-old even tried to auction off the Highland Park, Illinois estate in 2013, but nobody bid the minimum £12million.
However, it just wouldn’t shift, and here’s a possible reason why… it’s just too personalised for the great man himself!
IT’S A MONSTER
Sprawled across seven acres and measuring 56,000 square feet, Michael Jordan’s estate is worthy of any sports legend.
And you can tell who owns it right away.
As you approach the front gate of the house, his iconic number ’23’ will be visible in a large, striking silver jersey typeface.
There are nine opulent bedrooms and nineteen bathrooms (15 full and four half).
Jordan, who owns another large estate in Utah, had the house custom-built with several oddities to suit his wants.
FIT FOR A SPORTING LEGEND
The NBA all-star was renowned for his skill in a variety of sports.
He attempted a professional career in baseball in addition to basketball.
Jordan enjoys playing golf as well; rumors have it that he has a +3 handicap.
It makes sense, then, that the estate has everything a sports legend could possibly need to keep in shape.
With a distinctive grass island in the center, the infinity pool has an interesting twist.
A full-sized basketball court, a tennis court, and a putting green with flagsticks bearing the Air Jordan logo are all present.
The latter serves as the focal point of the home. The names of his children are displayed at center court next to the notorious Jumpman emblem. His surname appears on both sides of the court.
There’s also a fully equipped gym, where it’s said that Jordan’s former teammates used to hang out and work out.
LOUNGE LIZARD
Jordan knows how to kick back in style when he wants to relax.
Guests can unwind on one of the several luxurious leather seats in his piano room.
A gaming room with a pool table is available.
Additionally, there is a second sitting room known as the “Great Room,” but they are all as wonderful.
The doorway decorations are reminiscent of the original Playboy Mansion in Chicago, adding to the extravagant detail that is beyond description.
The cigar room, though, has to be the best feature.
Along with Winston Churchill, one of the most well-known cigar smokers in history is Jordan, who is said to smoke six a day. This space accommodates such tendency.
There are lots of card tables in the cigar room, which is accessed via an elaborate railing.
You can only speculate about the kind of money won and lost there, as Jordan is also well-known for his high-stakes poker and gambling games.
NO END TO THE LAVISHNESS
With Jordan being worth a reported £1.2billion, he’s no stranger to the finer things in life.
After all, this is a man who commissioned a £20,000 ‘Baghdad table’ by designer Ezri Tarazi’s that gives an aerial view of the capital of Iraq that sits in his dining room.
While his home is also stocked with a huge wine cellar that carries thousands of expensive wines.
However, despite all of that, his favourite room in the home is said to be the library.
It’s not just a haven for bookworms, fans of film can rejoice too.
A drop down movie screen means Jordan can settle down with the family and watch a flick… how many times do you think he’s seen Space Jam on it?
